Seagull History
In 1982 Robert Godin produced the first Seagull guitars, and the concept for Seagull Guitars was to take the essential components of the best hand-crafted guitars with solid tops and stunning finishes, and build these features into guitars that could be priced within reach of working musicians. All Seagull guitars are constructed in Canada from start to finish, using sustainable-sourced wood from their own Canadian environment in a controlled manner.
Silver Leaf Maple Neck & Rosewood Fingerboard
Constructed from silver leaf maple, the S6's neck offers players a sonically pleasing rich-warmth and a punchy mid-range. Silver leaf maple's tonal character and weight is similar to mahogany, making it ideal for a wide range of playing styles as it has a very responsive character. Its smooth playing silver leaf maple neck is topped with a rosewood fingerboard that adds warmth to the overall sound, as well as providing a smooth and energetic playing experience.
Solid Cedar & Wild Cherry Construction
The Seagull S6 features a solid cedar top, offering players a rich, dark tonality blended with a sonic warmth. The sonically pleasing warmth of its solid top has a response that is particularly well-suited to the light touch of fingerpicking players. Additionally, its solid cedar top also produces plenty of bottom end with swelling dark overtones. The solid top is coupled with wild cherry back and sides, delivering a tone that falls between the mellow warmth of mahogany, and the bright-sizzle of maple. Together, the combination of tonewoods provides the S6 Acoustic with a rich, well-round, well-balanced tonality that is bright but still maintains plenty of warmth.
Traditional Dreadnought Body
The Seagull S6 features a traditional dreadnought body, which offers superb projection yet still maintains overall tonal balance. Although the dreadnought shape was originally designed for hard pick attack, the S6 Acoustic is able to accommodate numerous genres and playing styles; from fingerpicking to aggressive strumming, as well as unique, more alternative playing styles. The classic dreadnought size is ideal for players with a long reach and those more comfortable with bigger bodied guitars. Additionally, the sheer volume the S6 can project makes it an ideal vocal accompaniment for acoustic settings. This enables vocalists to push their diaphragm to the max and not feel too loud against the guitar's volume, as it will sing as loud as you do.
